COVID Resources and Advice

 There are a number of resources available to help during the pandemic and we wanted to help share some of them.

Hampshire Coronavirus Support and Helpline Information, advice, and support for vulnerable people, including those who have been shielding.  If you are struggling to get the food, medicine, or essential supplies you need for yourself or for your family, call the helpline.

Alton Community Care A local charity providing transport for medical appointments and vaccinations.  Bookings can only be made by telephone. ACC does not charge a fare but invites a voluntary donation to cover driver costs. Within Alton £3 is recommended, for Basingstoke and Chineham it is £15. ACC is short of drivers due to the Covid-19 crisis and may not be able to accept every booking, please only use this service if you have no other means of getting to your appointment.

Alton Mutual Aid Offering support for anyone who is vulnerable or having to isolate due to Covid-19. Run by a team of local volunteers offering free support with shopping, food vouchers, collecting/delivering prescriptions, delivering post or simply a friendly voice to talk to. Citizens Advice East Hampshire Providing free, confidential, and impartial advice for money, benefit, housing, or employment problems. They can also issue Food Bank vouchers and help with fuel costs.

Alton Food Bank Alton foodbank can help those in need in Alton and surrounding villages. The foodbank can support you with a supply of food and can also help with household goods, toiletries, nappies, and pet food. Local agencies who can issue food voucher referrals include: Citizens Advice, schools, housing support officers, children’s centres, health visitors, social services.

The Alton & District Community Resilience Fund (ADCRF) Providing support and assistance to local residents and groups who find themselves in exceptional circumstances and need help. The ADCRF panel has authority to approve funding applications for goods and services up to a value of £500 from individuals and families as well as local community groups, charities, and organisations.
