Staywell Schools Campaign
We are so pleased to be able to tell you about our Staywell Schools Campaign which was launched in January. Cardiac Rehab have teamed up with 8 local schools and have been attending assemblies to talk about how we can look after our hearts.
Taking heart health education into schools is so very important and will enable the children to make healthy choices and understand their bodies.
During the spring and summer terms the children will be learning about:
- The Science of the heart and how it works and what it does.
- Physical activity and the benefits of exercise.
-
Nutrition and how food choices affect our hearts.
As well as 7 local Primary schools, Amery Hill Secondary School have signed up to become a ‘Staywell School’.Students from Year 8 will be visiting the centre to learn about the heart. They will then feed what they have learnt back to the participating primary schools.

As part of the campaign the children will be holding fundraising events such as ‘wear red’ days, when the children will pay £1 to take part, to raise money for Cardiac Rehab.
The fundraising focus is that it costs £300 to help one local person, who is at risk of developing heart disease, on our Staywell Programme.
If you would like to help the children raise funds for Cardiac Rehab, then please go to http://mydonate.bt.com/events/staywellschoolscampaign/461250
The amount you donate will then be entered onto a brick on the Staywell Schools Poster in the Cardiac Rehab reception.
