Stunning day for open gardens
Thank you to everyone who came to our final open gardens of the year – the wonderful Binsted Place and equally wonderful Wheatley House.
This dual opening offered plenty to see as well as crafts and refreshments for sale. From roses to rudebekia and hydrangeas to hostas, there really was something for everyone.
With 170 people attending over the two sites, there was a lively atmosphere across both gardens and with the hosts on hand to answer questions about the planting, and plants they had grown for sale, many guests departed inspired to take a bit of Binsted & Wheatley back to their own gardens.
We were also delighted to have a range of craft stalls at Wheatley House, next to the refreshments, for people to peruse over a cuppa.
We would like to thank our fantastic hosts Mr & Mrs Adlington and Mrs & Mrs Hadfield, for sharing their beautiful gardens with us and helping us to raise over £1,000 to help continue our work. Their support on the day, as well as in the run up with the publicity, was excellent and made a huge difference to the success of this event.
Special thanks also go to our amazing volunteers on the day, Peter, Gill, Davina, Annabel, Angela, Derryn, Pauline & James, without whom we would’t have been able to run the event. And to all our wonderful bakers, whose cakes were a perfect treat after some hard garden gazing!
