Thank you to our volunteers!
When the Cardiac Rehab Centre was built 25 years ago, it was a sense of community working together that was at the heart of the building, all working together to improve the heart health of local people.
Since then, many hundreds of people have volunteered their time, produce and expertise to allow the Centre to grow into the fabulous facility we have today.
Volunteers’ Week takes place between 1-7 June every year and is a time to recognise and thank those who give up their time to support the cause. We want to thank all our amazing volunteers, past and present, for stepping up to help the Cardiac Rehab team when it really matters. Their support, particularly over the past couple of years in the face of Covid, has been invaluable.
Cardiac Rehab is incredibly lucky to have some very talented people working as Trustees of the Board, who are passionate about the value of exercise as a rehabilitation and primary prevention tool and eager to ensure we help as many people who need it as possible. They give up 100s of hours a year to support the staff team and use their areas of expertise and influence to bring the best out of us all.
Sarah Quarterman, Chief Executive
From our hard-working trustees who give their time to help steer the direction of Cardiac Rehab and ensure the Centre is still running for the next 25 years; to the cake bakers who time and again whip up delicious bakes to support our events; to the brave souls who stand in the cold with a collection pot and a smile, spreading the word about the good Rehab does; to the indefatigable office supporters who take on the data entry and filing tasks which support the Rehab team; to the event helpers who pour cups of tea, make canapés and collect tickets to ensure our events run smoothly for our guests.
Without our volunteers, we would not be able to run the range of events that we do and would therefore not raise as much money to support the work of Cardiac Rehab, helping to keep exerciser fees low and the service open to as many people as possible.
So, this Volunteers Week 2022, we want to say a big thank you for making a difference and let all our volunteers know how much we appreciate your support.
“We are very lucky to have such a great team of volunteers, to whom we owe the biggest thank you! Our volunteers undertake a variety of tasks ranging from regular admin work at the centre, to baking cakes, helping at fundraising events, or simply holding a tin at our street collections. We wouldn’t be able to fulfil such a busy events calendar without the support of our volunteers, and the struggle to raise funds would be much more challenging”
