Lions Golf Day scores for Cardiac Rehab

We were delighted to welcome representatives from the Alton Lions who presented a cheque for £1,700 as the proceeds from their Golf Day event in August.

The Lions-Rehab Golf Day is usually an annual event but had to be cancelled last year because of the pandemic.  The delay made the event at the Test valley Golf Club even more enjoyable, coupled with the fabulous amount raised for the charity.  19 teams played in the 4 Ball competition with various prizes being awarded for best score, nearest the pin and nearest the line.  The round of golf was followed by a two-course meal and presentation.

Events Manager Denise Ellis was thrilled with the donation and commented: “We would like to thank everyone who attended the Lions Golf Day, and especially the Committee who organised such a fabulous fundraising event.  We would like to pay special thanks to the late John Yeomans who was an integral part of the Lions Committee and who sadly passed away before the presentation could take place.  The money raised from the Golf Day is going to help Cardiac Rehab to continue improving the heart health of local people, at a time when fundraising is proving very difficult, so every pound raised has a big impact.”

The members of the Golf Day Committee, Dave Crocker, Atul Patel (presenting the cheque), Derek Shaw and John Smith, met with Dr Hugh Bethell, Denise Ellis (receiving the cheque) and Sarah Quarterman from Cardiac Rehab for the presentation at the Rehab Centre.

Thank you you everyone who took part and to the Lions for organising such a great event.
